Portrait of Leftwich Oldfield (1682-1721)

A bust-length portrait of the Cheshire gentleman Leftwich Oldfield, depicted wearing a green velvet coat with gilt frogging and a white stock, his powdered wig falling in long curls over his shoulders.
The portrait bears an early inscription identifying the sitter as “Leftwich Oldfeld” and dated 1720, together with a later handwritten label to the reverse recording his marriage to Jane Bowyer, daughter of Sir William Bowyer of Knypersley Hall, Staffordshire.
Presented unframed.
