Japanned Cabinet, c. 1760
An 18th century Japanned corner cabinet on stand
England, Circa 1760
A beautifully Japanned corner cabinet attributed to English cabinet maker Giles Grendy, the English lacquer top section was more than likely a stand alone cabinet originally, the current associated triform base is in the 18th century Italian style, this cabinet on stand was acquired from a property in Italy.
The quality of the lacquer work is exceptional and still in fantastic condition, the overall piece works fantastically well on the stand, giving an elegantly tall and slim look and feel – they have clearly been together for some 200 years or so.
