Italian, first half 19th Century
Spanish Brocatello marble, of ovoid form with angular handles and fixed domed covers surmounted by ball finials, each raised on a waisted socle.
Dealers Comment…
The form of these urns is so visually striking I’m always instantly attracted to them but now rarely seen outside of good private collections or museums.
The symmetry is uniquely contemporary feeling and the rich veined Brocatello marble is perfect match for the restrained design.
Provenance:
UK Private Collection
Christie’s June 1999 - property of a distinguished family collection.
Height: 32.5cm
