A finely cast bronze bust of Antinous, with a dark patinated surface and mounted on its original onyx socle.
The work follows the classical Roman style, taking inspiration from ancient imperial portraits of the emperor Hadrian's celebrated companion. Stamped verso with the foundry mark Chiurazzi Naples.
The Chiurazzi foundry was renowned in the 19th and early 20th centuries for its exceptional reproductions of antiquities, using moulds taken directly from classical sculptures in Naples and Rome.
